The Ingenious DUPLEX MPL and APECS AP cylinder are covered under the AI Secure Guarantee, and provide class leading performance in terms of operation, and more importantly, security for you and your family.


In order to give you total peace of mind, we’re so confident your door is secure with our multi-point lock and cylinder that, in the unlikely event of a break-in succeeding through failure of our products, we will pay up to £5000 towards a new door and for the loss of any items which are not covered by any of your household insurance.



This guarantee will be valid for a period of 5 years from the date of installation of the door and is not transferable. Conditions apply.


The guarantee will take effect from the date of receipt of the attached registration form which must be received by us within 14 days of installation.


The total compensation package of up to £5000 will be the maximum amount payable in full and final settlement of any successful claims towards any uninsured loss as well as the new door supplied and installed.


The guarantee will be deemed invalid if any modification, repair or alteration to the products has been made by a non-approved service engineer and without our consent.


This AI Secure Guarantee is only valid for door hardware correctly fitted, adjusted and maintained in accordance with APECS and ILH’s installation and maintenance instructions.




This guarantee is only valid when the following details have been adhered to:

  • The guarantee registration form has been correctly completed in full and received at Ingenious Locks & Hardware Ltd and APECS Consult LTD addresses within 14 days of the door being fitted.
  • Doors are securely closed, deadlocked with the key and the key removed from the cylinder lock, and not in the night vent position.
  • ILH approved locks and keeps with APECS AP cylinders are fitted to all doors.
  • The door is manufactured by an approved installer PAS024;2016 or an equivalent standard.
  • ILH security products have been installed and adjusted in accordance with ILH’s installation fitting instructions.
  • All ILH & APECS security products and moving components (locks, handles) should be kept free of dirt and lubricated twice yearly at equal intervals by the registrant, with the lubricant recommended in the instructions.
  • If it is established that the doors were manufactured, installed, correctly adjusted and maintained in accordance with APECS and ILH’s instructions and service manual, ILH & APECS may make a payment under the guarantee.
  • Only one claim shall be made per registrant during the guarantee period.
  • A Home Insurance premium (content insurance) must be in place and is to be registered in the name of the claimant (registrant) of the Product Guarantee.
  • This security guarantee excludes liability for forced entry or manual intervention for the exposed parts of the locking mechanism (lock, cylinder and keeps) howsoever caused, where the door has already been damaged and exposes one or more parts of the locking mechanism.
  • The guarantee period shall be for a term of 5 years from the date of installation of the door incorporating ILH’s security product. Only the original registrant of the guarantee shall be able to enforce the rights under the guarantee.
  • The Provisions Contract (Rights of The Third Party) at 1999 shall be excluded.
  • Only genuine APECS keys must be used with the APECS AP cylinder.
  • The benefits of the Guarantee only apply where entry is gained to the property through the failure of the ILH Multi-Point Lock and/or snapping of the APECS AP Cylinder.
  • This Guarantee does not cover components from other suppliers that may have been used on the door.
  • Claims are subject to the property being occupied and furnished.
  • Claims are subject to the door being maintained according to care and maintenance instructions provided a copy of door care instructions is available upon request
  • Only one claim per household can be made during the guarantee period.
  • Notification of any claim must be made within 7 days of the break-in. Any supporting documentation must be supplied within 30 days of the break-in.
  • The Guarantee will be valid for as long as the homeowner continues to live at the registered address or for a period of 5 years from registration, whichever is. the earliest date. The Guarantee is non-transferable; therefore it cannot be transferred to a new owner if the property is sold, or carried over with the registered homeowner to their new property.
  • The Guarantee is applicable to residential properties in the UK and Ireland only. Commercial properties are excluded from this guarantee.
  • A Warranty card for the APECS AP cylinder has to be provided by the door supplier or installer (included in the original box of the cylinder) to the homeowner and this must be presented by the homeowner when making a claim.
  • The decision of the company is final in respect of the above qualifying criteria (i) whether the door has been maintained according to care instructions (ii) whether any modification/repair has been made to the door and (iii) whether entry has been gained to the property through failure of the lock or cylinder product.
  • The guarantee will not apply if the goods have not yet been fully paid for (i.e. there is an outstanding balance for the supply and installation of the doors).

To claim after a break-in the following conditions must be met:

  • The homeowner must retain the door and the cylinder lock alleged to be faulty so that both can be assessed in accordance with the terms below.
  • The homeowner must contact their installer within 7 days of the break in to notify them of a claim.
  • The homeowner must submit a written claim (claim form available upon request) within 7 days of the break in, including a crime reference number.
  • An APECS AP cylinder warranty card (or number) must be presented upon request to verify the authenticity of the cylinder lock.
  • A Police Crime Report Number must be presented when making a claim along with the details of the Police Officer and Station where the report was filed.
  • A complete list of the stolen items must be presented and the items which are not insured/ covered by the home insurance policy must be specified together with a copy of the said home insurance policy and an explanation as to why the stolen items are not covered by the insurance policy.
  • Proof of purchase will be requested for the items on the guarantee claim.
  • Ingenious & APECS will send an approved service engineer within 2 working days of receiving the claim form to visit the property and assess whether any components on the lock failed on the door during the break-in. The homeowner must retain the lock and the door and provide the service engineer access to both and cooperate with any reasonable requests from the service engineer so he can assess the claim .
  • After service engineer assessment, the locks and cylinders will be sent to our manufacturer’s lab for an investigation in order to come to a definite conclusion.
  • If, on investigation, it is found that the Security products were correctly fitted, adjusted and maintained, but that the lock or the cylinder failed during the break-in, we will then issue the following payments within 30 days of the claim being approved:
  • A cheque (or equivalent) up to £5,000 sent to the registered householder to compensate for the inconvenience of the break-in for the uninsured loss and the replacement of the door (or equivalent cost)
  • If the break in to the property is judged to have occurred due to the failing of any other component on the window or door (for example broken glass or a broken PVCu panel), none of the above benefits will be applicable
