Lock snapping is the most common method of attack. Now available from the APECS cylinder range is the APECS AP cylinder, which is specially developed to protect from unauthorised access by burglars.

The APECS AP Cylinder, Diamond grade, BSI 3 Star Kitemark, offers maximum protection. It safeguards from all common forced entry methods of attack ranging from snapping, drilling, plug-extraction, picking and bumping. The AP cylinder is engineered with a unique sacrificial point where it is designed to snap in a way not to allow further damage of the lock inside. In the event of snapping, the homeowner can still operate the door and exit the property due to the interlocking mechanism with a unique cam protection block, which is engaged when the cylinder's external part is snapped off. The double locking mechanism with track pins protects and safeguards from bumping and picking and the hardened steel cam protection block prevents the cylinder from snapping and plug extraction. 

The AP cylinder comes with a restricted dimple key with a complex and highly engineered design to prevent illicit key copying.
